Software Engineer

Applied Instruments is a leading manufacturer of RF test equipment for the satellite and cable installation industries. We provide rugged, high value installation meters throughout North America and some internationally.

We sometimes need competent software engineers to design, write and test software in several areas. A bachelor’s degree in software, computer or electronic engineering, or equivalent experience, is required.

Product development:
Requires real-time embedded software design and coding. May involve selecting appropriate hardware, design, coding and testing of software and systems. 8, 16 and 32 bit micro-controllers, C and assembly languages are used. Applications are hand-held and rack mount RF test instruments. Good design methods and documentation are important.

Window’s applications:
Software written in Microsoft C++ may be required to support and enhance the functions of our test instruments. These applications are used world-wide by our customers. In-house applications to support manufacturing and calibration are also developed when needed.

Test applications:
Some development of in-house testing applications may be required. Labview experience is a plus. Experimental design experience, data analysis ability and plain old ingenuity are valuable skills in this area.

Electronic and/or RF knowledge is very helpful. Applicants should be familiar with using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc. Network administration is also helpful (Windows Server 2003, SQL Server).
